A Night With Janis Joplin at American Stage on 09/18/26

American Stage is set to turn up the volume on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, with A Night With Janis Joplin, a theatrical tribute celebrating the legendary singer and the women who inspired her. The production is part of a packed weekend lineup highlighted in I Love the Burg’s latest newsletter, but it stands out as one of the most anticipated arts events in St. Petersburg. Janis Joplin’s unmistakable voice, rebellious spirit and blues-rock energy helped define a generation, and this performance promises to capture that electric legacy on stage. More than a simple concert tribute, the show also shines a light on the female artists whose influence helped shape Joplin’s sound and style. For local theatergoers and classic rock fans alike, it offers a chance to revisit a powerful era in music through live performance. With Oktoberfest celebrations, baseball, live orchestra and museum events also filling the weekend calendar, St. Pete audiences have plenty of choices. But for those looking for a night of soul, grit and nostalgia, American Stage’s tribute to Janis Joplin should be a top pick.
