American Stage is set to celebrate one of rock music’s most iconic voices with A Night With Janis Joplin on Friday, September 25. The show pays tribute not only to Janis Joplin herself, but also to the influential women who helped shape her sound and spirit. It promises an evening filled with the raw energy, emotional power, and unforgettable songs that made Joplin a legend.
The production is part of a busy weekend lineup highlighted in the I Love the Burg newsletter, which also points to major local happenings like Oktoberfest and a range of community events across Pinellas County. But for music fans, the American Stage performance stands out as a chance to relive the fire of Joplin’s era in a live theater setting.
The newsletter also includes a fun reminder of Joplin’s larger-than-life personality, noting that she once famously sent a helicopter to rescue a friend stuck in traffic on the way to Woodstock. That kind of bold folklore fits the mood of a night devoted to her legacy. For anyone looking to spend Friday night with classic rock energy and a powerful tribute performance, American Stage offers a fitting destination.
