The Florida Orchestra has announced its 2026-27 season, and one of the most enticing offerings for spring is Bizet’s Carmen. The concert will be performed as part of the Soundwaves Chamber Orchestra series, bringing audiences an intimate, up-close experience with the orchestra’s musicians. Conducted by Chelsea Gallo, the program also features Paris-based accordionist Theo Ould in a special guest appearance.
Set for April 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Church of the Ascension in Clearwater, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Centro Asturiano in Ybor City, and April 25 at 2 p.m. at the Student Center Ballroom at USF St. Pete, the performance blends fiery Spanish color with Latin American energy. The evening includes Moncayo’s Huapango, Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, Albéniz’s Asturias, and works by Piazzolla before concluding with selections from Bizet’s Carmen.
The orchestra describes the concert as a chance to hear “the irresistible rhythms of Spain and Latin America” in a setting that highlights both passion and precision. Tickets for the entire 2026-27 season, including Carmen, go on sale at FloridaOrchestra.org.
