The season kicks off with “Opening Night! Ravel’s Bolero” on October 5th and 6th, 2024. This grand inauguration features Ravel’s mesmerizing “Bolero,” Borodin’s energetic “Polovtsian Dances,” and Heitor Villa-Lobos’s “Choros 10.” Pianist Chelsea Guo graces the stage with De Falla’s “Gardens of Spain.” As the festive season approaches, “Classical Christmas” on December 13th and 14th promises a heartwarming experience with John Rutter’s compositions, traditional carols, and an engaging sing-along.
February 22nd and 23rd, 2025, marks the “Belshazzar’s Feast,” where Tchaikovsky’s “Piano Concerto No. 1” comes alive with soloist Olga Kern. The evening crescendos with William Walton’s dramatic “Belshazzar’s Feast,” featuring baritone Donnie Ray Albert. The season culminates on May 24th and 25th with “Mahler: Symphony No. 3,” a cosmic journey into nature’s essence, led by maestro Michael Francis.

Self-Produced Gems and Community Engagement
Beyond collaborations, the Chorale’s self-produced programs shine brightly. The “Interactive Messiah” on December 7th invites both singers and listeners to partake in Handel’s timeless masterpiece. “Radiant Visions,” set for April 24th and 25th, 2025, celebrates innovation with Jocelyn Hagen’s “Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci” and a world premiere by Natalie Draper. Moreover, the “Big Sing St. Pete” on November 9th offers a free, communal singing experience at Vinoy Park.
Under the artistic direction of Matthew Abernathy, The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay continues its mission to advance choral music, commissioning contemporary works and fostering community engagement. As a cultural treasure in Tampa Bay, the Chorale’s upcoming season promises performances that echo with passion, innovation, and excellence.
