The Florida Orchestra is set to spotlight the harp in a vibrant concert centered on Ginastera’s Harp Concerto on November 6, 7 and 8. The program, led by conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto, promises bold, colorful music inspired by the Latin world. At the heart of the performance is TFO harpist Anna Kate Mackle, who will take the instrument to thrilling new heights in a work known for its rhythmic energy and expressive sound.
The concert is part of a season that mixes major classical works with audience-friendly experiences across Tampa Bay. The Florida Orchestra’s autumn lineup also includes Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture in October, Scheherazade featuring rising pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, and free and family events like Raymond James Pops in the Park and A Star to Remember. But Ginastera’s Harp Concerto stands out as one of the season’s most distinctive offerings, pairing a celebrated solo instrument with a program that also features works by Gabriela Ortiz and Falla.
With its mix of passion, color and virtuosity, the November concert is designed to appeal both to longtime symphony-goers and to listeners eager to hear something adventurous and fresh.
