The Florida Orchestra is bringing a burst of rock-and-roll nostalgia to Tampa Bay with Revolution: The Music of The Beatles, set for Oct. 9 at the Straz Center and Oct. 10 at the Mahaffey Theater. The concert is part of the orchestra’s busy Raymond James Pops series and promises a multimedia celebration of one of the most influential bands in music history. Along with the orchestra’s live performance, audiences can expect rare photos and stunning video that help tell the story behind the songs.
The Beatles tribute arrives during a blockbuster month for The Florida Orchestra, which is also opening its Hough Family Foundation Masterworks season this weekend with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. That program features Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Beethoven’s Wellington’s Victory, and Christopher Theofanidis’ The Gift. Later in October, the orchestra will spotlight pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, present a free Pops in the Park concert, and close the month with John Williams at 95.
With concerts spanning Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater, the orchestra is offering a season full of variety, from classical masterpieces to pop favorites. Revolution: The Music of The Beatles looks poised to be one of the season’s standout crowd-pleasers.
