This summer, Broadway fans in Tampa Bay can catch the laugh-out-loud musical SHUCKED when it rolls into the Straz Center’s Carol Morsani Hall from June 3 to June 8, 2025. Billed as a musical comedy that’s as heartfelt as it is hilarious, this Tony Award®–winning show comes from a team of seasoned creatives who know their way around Broadway and beyond.
SHUCKED brings together a powerhouse team: a book by Robert Horn, who won a Tony for Tootsie, songs by Grammy Award–winners Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally—known for their work with Kacey Musgraves—and direction by the legendary Jack O’Brien (Hairspray). The result is a “corn-fed” musical with sharp wit, catchy songs, and a storyline that’s anything but conventional.
Though the plot remains under wraps in promotional materials, what’s clear is that SHUCKED leans into its rural roots with plenty of pun-filled humor, colorful characters, and unexpected charm. It’s a comedy that doesn’t shy away from a bit of sass, sprinkled with adult themes and a generous ear of double entendre. Running just over two hours with an intermission, it’s a breezy, energetic show ideal for a night out.
SHUCKED has multiple performances across its six-day run, including sign language-interpreted and audio-described shows, making it accessible to a wider audience. And for those looking to attend with friends or coworkers, group discounts are available for parties of 10 or more—though some restrictions apply on premium time slots and seating tiers.
Performances kick off on Tuesday, June 3, and run through Sunday, June 8, offering both matinee and evening options. Whether you’re a Broadway regular or just in it for the corny jokes, this musical promises a light-hearted evening with enough cleverness to satisfy any theater lover.
If you’ve got a few friends who love musicals, this is the perfect excuse to grab tickets together. Try planning for a weeknight performance, then catch up over drinks downtown after the show—there’s nothing like a shared laugh to start the summer off right.
