Steve Hackman’s Taylor Swift: The Symphony Era at Mahaffey Theater on 09/12/26

The Florida Orchestra will open its 59th season with a pop culture crossover event as Steve Hackman’s Taylor Swift: The Symphony Era comes to Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026. The concert promises a fresh take on Swift’s catalog, reimagining songs from across her career, including Love Story, You Belong with Me and The Fate of Ophelia, with orchestral arrangements, four vocalists, band and the chorus of The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay.

Created and conducted by composer, conductor and producer Steve Hackman, the performance is described as an original experience rather than a tribute show. Hackman is known for genre-blending productions that pair popular music with symphonic forces, including projects such as Brahms X Radiohead, Beethoven X Beyonce and Beethoven X Coldplay.

The Florida Orchestra says the concert is part of a season launch that includes other special performances, but Swift fans will get the first chance to hear this symphonic reinterpretation on Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $38, fees included, and are on sale now through FloridaOrchestra.org or by calling the Ticket Center. The orchestra also notes that Taylor Swift will not appear at the event.
